N400: Trips outside the US
All,
I am in the process of filling out my N400 and I have a question on trips outside the US.
Two years ago we took a seven-day cruise to Anchorage, Alaska from Vancouver. So we landed in Vancouver on Monday and boarded the vessel the same day. At the port our passports were stamped by the US border/immigration agents. There were stops along the Alaskan coast within a day or two of leaving the port.
Does this trip count as a seven day trip, or less than 24 hour trip?

I would list it as a seven-day trip. Several reasons:
- - If in doubt, disclose it.
- - It really doesn't make a difference anyway. They are primarily
interested in very long trips, six months or more, or trips that might
indicate you abandoned your US residency.
- - The vessel most likely was not US flagged. Therefore, you didn't
reenter US territory just by re-boarding the ship.
