Default N400 -Newark

Hi:

Wanted to thank everyone of you who have helped me in this forum.
I had my Naturalization interview on April 29th at Newark. My appt was for 8
AM. I arrived at 7.30 AM. We were allowed in at 8 AM. Went to the designated
room specified in the appt letter. Was called in for the interview at 8.40
AM. The interviewer was a very nice lady. She asked me the following civics
questions:

1. What is the capital of NJ ?
2. Who was the President during the civil war?
3. Who is the current Vice-President?
4. What were the original 13 states called?
5. What is the Constitution?
6. Which year was the Declaration of Independence adopted?

Then she asked me to write a sentence she read out. Did that & she told me
that I had passed my civics test (or words to that effect).
I was asked for the latest IRS papers. My marriage certificate (as my
naturalization was based on my marriage to a citizen) & my husband's
Naturalization Certificate. After looking at all this she made me sign
relevant papers & I was asked to come back at 11 AM for the oath ceremony.
The interview took about 30 mins.
I had to ask her about my I 751 ( I had sent in my application in April 1st
2002) She said it was approved on April 7th 2004 & if it had not been
approved she would have completed the formalities for that also at the
interview.
Got back to the same room at 11 AM was called to the counter at about 12
signed my Naturalization Certificate. The oath was administered at 12.45 on
the 16th floor. That was it.
My time line:

* Arrived in the US with a conditional GC June 4th 2000.
* Sent my I 751 to Vermont April 1st 2002
*I 751 approved April 7th 2004 ( I didn't know about it till I asked at the
N 400 interview)
* N400 sent May 19th 2003
* Fingerprint appt Aug 18th 2003
* N 400 Completed April 29th 2004.

Sorry for asking since it has been a year as you became a C. What kind of docs did you submit along with your N400?

Thanks,
Samal

There is a document checklist included with the N-400/Guide to Naturalization. Use that as your guideline. Off the top of my head, we included marriage certificate, identification, divorce decrees, tax returns, etc.

BTW if you have a question, why tack it on to an existing one where it probably will not be noticed. Start your own thread.
