N-400 timeline between fingerprints and interview
Guys,
I posted this query before and there was no response. I figured I outlined
my question too narrowly, so I thought I'd broaden the scope. Can someone
please share with me the current time between fingerprinting and interview
for a N-400 application. I live in Kansas, so anybody's experience from
Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, or Iowa would be useful for me to get an idea.
Thanks a lot for sharing. I realize the time can vary greatly from place to
place but anyone's experience from the above states can help me get a
general feel for it.

I am going through TSC. I had my fingerprints done at Orlando in April 2002, I then had an appointment for interview in July. This was descheduled by INS and now has been rescheduled for the end of January 2003 in Miami
Hope this helps some

I filed September 2001,
FBI fingerprints February 2002,
interview notice May 2002,
interview August 2002.
INS could not get my file to the interview on time! They only just transferred the file from the service center 3 months late, but thats another story ...and I am still waiting for it to be processed as 2002 draws to a close.
For your record, I am in the TSC area, but filed while in the east at the Vermont SC (aka eastern service center)

Re: N-400 timeline between fingerprints and interview
Unrelated..but I thght might throw it out there anyways.
I filed my N400, now I see people are stating we shld say Yes for
traffic ticket violations (on the form for if you pleaded guilty, etc..).
From what I re-collect INS only cares for Misdemeanors or Felony
level violations.
What have people done in recent past? Did the INS interviewer ask
them explicity regarding those?

Used to be the case. But INS recently changed the form, and it now no
longer has the magical words "excluding traffic violations".

At my interview last month the officer asked "Have you ever been arrested or
detained by a law-enforcement officer, except for speeding tickets".
It's probably safe to assume they don't care about minor traffic violations.
But I think the safest thing to do is come clean about all such violations
in the application. Let them decide whether it matters or not, rather than
risk the accusation of being untruthful. You never know what kind of
information they have access to.

Re: N-400 timeline between fingerprints and interview
I filed in Nov 2001 and got printed in Feb. Interviewed in May and
was scheduled for the same Jan 17th ceremony in Austin.
Then my lawyer called me and said my swearing it was canceled due to
new background checks.
Hope that won't happen to you

Do you know/did your lawyer say if it was only your swearing in that was
cancelled, or was it the entire ceremony? Yes, I'm scheduled for the same
Jan 17 ceremony in Austin. I haven't heard about a cancellation yet.
My interview was Nov 15 2002, which I think was a couple of days AFTER the
extra background checks were instituted. I got my swearing appt. letter a
few days later.
Thanks for any info.

Just mine. He did mention that other clients were affected, but it
did not sound like very many.
My interview was May 28th and I did not get a notice till mid-Nov
since INS in Dallas had lost my file and San Antonio was waiting for
it.

re: lost file delay
My interview was May 28th and I did not get a notice till mid-Nov

typical -- the old "we're waiting for the file"
I called up many times until I got through. The rep said, "There are 3 requests for the file from Atlanta. We are using a new system and official requests are submitted by e-mail. The office did not submit them in the correct format, so they weren't answered. My supervisor will take care of it and send out the file immediately..today or tomorrow."
There you have it folks. The customer must sort out the delay. The only apology you'll hear is a pre-recorded one
