N-400 interview till Auth ceremony - Roll
Dear netters,
I had my citizinship interview about 3 months ago (Jan 24, 2003) and till
now haven't heard back regarding the auth ceremony date. I had my interview
in Oakland, CA (sub-office to San Francisco main office).
If any one in the same situation, or if you got your auth ceremony recently,
could you please post you timeline to get a sense of how long it's taking
these days, with the extra security checks that was added recently?
Thanks a lot!

The average to get notice to appear for oath ceremony is about 2~3 weeks (
in your case sometime in February ) after interview. If more security check
is required then 2~3 weeks timeline is out of the window.
Good luck.

Re: N-400 interview till Auth ceremony - Roll
I think BCIS now waits for the security checks for everybody, so it takes
much longer than usual, and the three months are quite normal. It may
still be a good idea to either call BCIS, or to contact a Congressperson.
A Congressperson's aide will probably confirm that the time frame is
normal (and do nothing else), or if it indeed is unusually long will
inquire about the case.

I had my interview at the end of February, I was told that I would receive my oath letter within 2 - 4 months, so hopefully anytime now!

Re: N-400 interview till Auth ceremony - Roll
my brother went to his interview on late March this year, in Seattle,
and had the ceremony the next day (only because his interview was in
the afternoon,) he was told that they were trying to have the same day
if possible.
I will have my interview in May 1, also in Seattle, will report back
after that. Hopefully, I will get the same day ceremony since my
interview is early in the morning.

Re: N-400 interview till Auth ceremony - Roll
Thanks to all who replied. It seems like each office is different in setting
the requirements for the "extra" security checks!!!
It's good that some people are getting their auth ceremony same day or next
day, and too bad that some of us have to wait several months for the same
thing!
The reason I'm a bet inpatient about this is that I need to get my
citizenship so that I can start the process to bring my wife here! We got
married last October on the hope that I'll have the interview and the auth
in January (thinking that I'll have the auth right after the interview) and
will be able to apply for spouse visa for her right after that. Oh well, I
guess we can't quite control the timing of the process, especially if it
seems random sometimes!
Ok! I feel better now :-)
