I don't think that's an unreasonable statement..

Having said that, I'm sure I'll get where I want to with determination. It just seems like I'm going to need quite a lot of it..

Thanks for the sentiment Brit3964, I'd be interested to know who your Dad is.. and I think the F-1 is a good enough start.

Oh dear, you do realize that you will be one of those immigrants Spanish speaking or not? and will be treated as such like the rest of us.
Not all of us left the UK cause we hated it, it's a fine country it has it faults as does the US and anywhere else.
Maybe a good look around the UK and trying to be happy with what you have before trying to fix life with moving to another country. Music is everywhere UK/Europe/US/Canada, US is full of talented musicians recognized or not.
Yet again, youth is wasted on the young

Well, it doesn't take much for a musician to change his tune!

As you've gathered, I'm on your side with your plans... but your comment really was out of line. Undocumented aliens are not responsible for how difficult a time you might have getting a visa for the US. If you have talent, go for it.

You apparently have talent, and you hope to take a good degree -- but what have you actually DONE? It is going to take a resume to make it worth someone's while to go through all the hoops to hire you. Do something noteworthy in the UK or Europe, and doors will open to you much more easily in the US.

Okay, okay - I take back the comment, I apologize! It was only meant as lighthearted anyway.. I ain't pointing the finger at anyone!

Well, it really depends on what's noteworthy.. I think I could bring a lot to the industry, and hopefully I'll have a very strong resume by the time I leave uni. Enough to get me on a good course in the US, meaning that I have experience in the UK and US - and a strong portfolio to accompany that.. that's the hope, anyway.

It's not what you could bring, it's what you have already brought that is important. Believe it or not but there are probably thousands of people with the same or similar paper qualifications, many will already be in the country and eligible to work. You will need to have a track record of practical experience to put yourself on par or above those people to even give yourself a chance.
