Move to UK while I-140 petition pending

I filed my I-140 petition last September (EB-1) and it is still pending. Now I got a job
offer in Britain. My question is, can I continue my green card application when I work in
Britain? Since my wife likes US a lot, she hopes we can have a US green card, (another
reason is that our son is US citizen, my wife wishes we can come to US freely in the
future). Can somebody help me?
Many thanks,

You can indeed keep the I-140 running and eventually get a Green Card (actually, an
immigrant visa) through consular processing in either London or in your home country.
However, once the immigrant visa is approved - and this may be as early as two to six
months from now - you will HAVE to return to the US and take up the job that sponsored
your I-140 (or work in the profession if you self-sponsored).
