money requirement for dv-2004
On the forms it says you need to prove that you have enough funds to
support yourself over in the US without a job.
Is it okay if the money comes from my parents? They say they check any
lump payments into your account (to make sure its not illegal money i
presume), but my parents have said they will give some of the $8000
needed to show you have the money to support yourself. Will they accept
that at the interview? Will i need to prove that money came from them?
Such as a signed statement from one of them?
Cheers.

Re: money requirement for dv-2004
They should accept that as long as it is an unconditional gift. A signed
statement should be OK.
The main reason they look into such a lump sum payment is that there are
ways you could magically make money appear that doesn't really exist. For
instance, you could borrow money from somebody, and promise to repay them
immediately after you have the immigrant visa. Even if the money came from
your parents, that would still not be OK. Thus the need to make it an
unconditional gift.
