Default minimun salary for h1 (software developer)

Does anyone know what the minimun salary for H1 for a software developer
(web developer) almost entry level position might be? I am in Kansas,
average salaries for that position are in the low 40k per year.
Thanks,

What do you mean by software developer ? A Visual C++/Java/Oracle
developer ?

Or you were thinking about web developer (who creates ASP / PERL / CGI
/ HTML / Flash pages), because these two things differ in payment

The salary for somebody on H1 has to be at least 95% of the prevailing wage
for the occupation in the particular metropolitan area. The employment agency
of your state has the figures for the prevailing wages. Check their website.

You can try to figure out how the state employment agency will classify =
the position, and which prevailing wage it will select from the =
Department of Labor database of wages. =20

Go to http://edc.dws.state.ut.us/owl.asp. Under "Advanced (Keyword) =
Search" select "Kansas," and click on Continue. On the next page, under =
"Advanced Search," select the county where the employer is located. =
Under "Select an Occupation from the list" select a suitable occupation =
code like 15-1031. =20
=20
Under "Select a Data Source," click on Search. You will see level 1 and =
level 2. There are only 2 levels. =20
=20
The state employment agency will select level 1 or level 2 based on the =
job description and requirements that the employer provides them on the =
Prevailing Wage Request.=20

There are other methods of obtaining a prevailing wage determination.=20

i am canadian on h1b (was on tn)
when i came in here, i asked my company 10% OVER the average r&d 5 salary an
american would normally charge, for a simple reason:
in canada (just like in here), we have the same problem
and I DID NOT WANT anybody to tell me "hey, you've stolen my job"
because the company offered me 10% over the average american r&d 5, i
accepted their offer (now i can sleep well, because i know VERY WELL that
they needed me badly and I DID NOT STILL ANYBODY'S JOB)
also (just like in canada) in here it doesn't rain with computer science
PhDs... but that's another story...
