Default Medical Examination

Hello everyone,

My fiancé said someone told her that the medical examination that the US Embassy in
Bucharest, Romania requires her to go to will cost her over $500 USD. And that does
not include the vaccinations that she will need.

Is this true?

I cannot recall how much I paid for my medical examination and vaccinations in Sri
Lanka. But it's not nearly as much as that. All I remember is that it was quite
affordable. That's probably why I don't even remember. And I don't suppose it will be
different in any other country. I hope someone at the Bucharest consulate can give
you more definite details. Ranjini

I think I paid 125,- EURO for the examination plus 95,- EURO for two vaccinations I
was missing in Frankfurt, Germany.

I don't know if the US Embassy in Romania does it, but the US Embassy in Warsaw lists
flat rates for examination in either Poland or Ukraine. Did you check US Embassy in
Romania website?

I called the US Embassy in Bucharest and they told me that the examination costs
between 50 and 70 USD.

But my fiancé told me that one person she works with told her that three persons from
the person's family went to the Embassy and the total for medical examinations for
all three was $1,500.00.

Ken,

You can call the Embassy back, ask them for the name and the address of the place
that charges 50 to 70, and have your girl to go there. How well do you know your
fiancee? I do not want to say anything bad about her in particular, but I have seen
cases when girls deliberately inflated the cost of things. Again, I am not saying
this is the case here, just some food for thought.
