errr I don't know how to bring this subject up, but I am a smoke a little pot for
fun, can anyone tell me if I will be tested for such substances in my medical, and if
so is it a blood or urine test? as depending on which test I get depends on who long
I have to be stopped to test negative.

thanks

Alan

My suggestion to you is that you stop right now then which test you take does not
matter. The INS takes a very dim view of illegal drug use and personally I would not
wish to mess up my future for a bit of fun.

They test neither, you are free to show up at the visa interview high if you wish.

Whether they test or not, if you are approved and come to the US, it would be prudent of you to go cold turkey on drug use, even the so-called recreational type drug.

Why? Because the INS takes a very dim view of the purchase, selling and/or use of illegal drugs. As a "guest" of the US courtesy of the INS, if you are arrested and subsequently convicted of even possessing a small amount of illegal substance, your arse will be booted out of the country. BTW this can happen even if you become a US citizen down the road. You are not exempt from deportation for certain crimes.

Harsh treatment? Perhaps but it is the same treatment issued by many countries to immigrants who are convicted of certain crimes. So you must decide which is more important to you, drugs or an ensured continued life with your sweetie?

Actually, the panel physician has the discretion to test for drug usage if he/she
deems it appropriate, in order to meet the consular directives. Whether or not it is
actually done you will never know unless you have a positive test result. See this

For THC it approximately six weeks, sometimes 3 months. There is a very sensitive
"hair test" for cocaine or heroin users. Use of these substances can be detected up
to two years after the person stopped using these drugs.

I don't know about the medical exam for the visa but it is a distinct possiblity that
you will be tested. And as others have stated it is an almost certain gaurantee that
if you seek employment in the U.S. you will be tested before being hired and also you
will be subject to random testing after employment. All this is nothing compared with
what you are doing to yourself with this junk. Drop it like hot rock and forget it.
It ain't worth it.

I would stop the drug taking right this minute if I were you, in America they don't
look favorably on drug users, rightly so!! Carol

Don't you mean drug abusers? I am sure that even you are a drug user. Hypocrite!
