MDUdall: Data loss at CSC, June 22nd - June 24th
I just received word from AILA (thank you AILA) that they just received word from the Assistant Director of the CSC (thank you CSC), that the CSC experienced a problem with its automated case processing system. As a result, it became necessary to reconstruct data that was entered or updated from June 22nd through June 24th. They expect to complete this processing within the next 48 hours.
Due to this problem, some cases where the data was entered during that timeframe may receive a duplicate receipt notice. It is also possible that the duplicate notice will contain a "new" (different) WAC number (receipt number). If someone receives such a duplicate notice with a new WAC number, they should use the new number when checking on their case (the first WAC number will no longer be applicable to their case).
The did say however, that in the future, if an inquiry is made about such a case, they ask that both receipt numbers be provided to help in their research.
So there you have it. So you CSC people please remember this news and pass along the word to those who end up posting in the next little while, with questions about why on earth they received a second receipt notice with a new WAC number.

Did AILA say anything about MSC experiencing problems.
I recieved NOA a month ago and it is still is not comming up on
the status hotline and/or the status website. And according
to forum on visajourney.com there are _many_ others who
also cannot track their case status?

Re: MDUdall: Data loss at CSC, June 22nd - June 24th
I experienced the same thing. I got four receipts from the MSC on the same day and tried to look them up online (about a month ago). Nothing on any of them. I tried again the next morning, still nothing. I decided to call the 1-800 number and see what was going on. I gave them one of my receipt numbers, and they looked it up in their computer. They said it was in there and that everything was fine. I hung up and tried the webpage again. Lo and behold, all of a sudden all four receipts showed up. Maybe they had to jar it loose or something by looking it up manually first? Could have been a coincidence, but it wouldn't hurt to try in your case.
