Lost Passport with L1 Visa & I94
Hi all,
I am currently in the US and due to return back to the UK in 4 weeks time. The problem is a couple of weeks ago my expired passport containing my L1A visa was stolen. I have a new passport, but there are no stamps on it, no visa and no I94. Does anyone know if I am going to have hassle gettting out of the country? Do you need to get the I94 replaced?
Also, I came back to the US after Xmas and realised my passport was going to run out in May. So, I sent my passport back to the UK to get renewed. I've since learnt that you are supposed to get it renewed in the States. Is this going to get me into trouble as well? Is there anything on the new passport to indicate where it was renewed from?
I can't get through to speak to anyone in the Embassy as it puts me straight through to computer automated messages.
Any help very much appreciated.

There is almost never any hassle getting out of the US, all the fun is
in getting back in. You'll have to get a visa while you're in the UK -
be aware that you need to book an appointment weeks in advance, and the
booking needs to be done in the UK. Technically you should probably
apply for a replacement I-94, though I don't think you'll get it before
you leave. I don't know if this will cause problems leaving, but I
doubt it. You need to ensure that you have some proof afterwards that
you left the US - attending an interview at a US Consulate should be
pretty good proof.

I'm sure it's possible to tell where a passport is issued, but I'll be
very surprised if either US or UK authorities will be seriously worried
about this as long as you have one.
