London Medical
my partner had a medical at Bray Street, London and went through the usual format. At the conclusion paid the fee and received the vaccination certificate.
Reading the medical examination format per website - the heading.. How long will it take for the medical results to be released? reply given.. usually 4 days...but then, If during the course of medical it is found necessary to refer you to a specialist, the panel of doctors will assist, therefore results will not be released in the 4 days.
Is it normal therefore to be told AT THE TIME of the medical that a specialist opinion will be required?
Has anyone knowledge of what happens... are you notified BEFORE you leave on the day of the medical or can there be a delay and be notifed at a later stage.
If they are couriered to the US Embassy in the 4 days... anyone any idea what sort of time frame may apply before being called for interview.

"Being called for an interview" is a result of sending the IV-15 checklist in, not taking the medical.
I believe there can be a delay before referral to a specialist (alcohol topics come to mind) but I don't know that for certain.

The Embassy will notify you of your interview date / time - it is not subject to you having completed the medical first. (Although of course you do need to have returned the IV-15 checklist).
As regards the medical, basically no news is good news - if you weren't informed of any problems at the medical itself then the inference can usually be drawn that all is ok. It would be very unlikely that a referral to a specialist be made without having discussed it with the applicant at the medical. The only exception to this of course is if the doctor needs to speak with someone once their blood test results are in.

If something shows up in the bloodwork, you can't be told then and there but will be called when the results are in and before they are posted to the US Consulate.

Since I was lucky enough to fall into this category of having to go see a specialist here is my answer for you.
During the medical in London the Doc told me that I had a heart murmur. News to me. So since I didn't know about it and the doc can't really see what the problem is without further investigation right there and then. I think before I was even finished in the room with the doctor he gave me a letter to take to my GP telling me what was required - ECG and/or echo.
I think in honesty that they don't send the results to the Embassy unless you have passed the medical. Like if something came back with your bloodwork it would be up to a doctor to tell you as they would be the ones with the necessary qualifications and knowledge of medicine NOT some embassy worker.
ETA: 3 doctors, 2 ECG's and 1 echo-cardiogram later and I don't even have a heart murmur!!

Also I don't think the results getting to the Embassy has any relation to when your interview will be scheduled.
I was informed of my interview date 4 wks beforehand and my medical actually arrived the morning of my interview.

i wasnt told i needed to see a specialist till they had already interviewed me at the embassy.
I was approved pending a further document and once they recieved it, i then got told i had to see a psychiatrist for a evaluation before they could release my visa to me.

The question from the OP has been answered so purely FYI funny enough, I asked the dr. at the time what would happen if they was an issue (which there wasn't for me) and she simply said, we would refer you back to your GP.
Nothing scary at all really, but extra hassles no doubt. Frankly, Im amazed that anyone has normal blood pressure readings when they go in there.
I tell ya I wouldn't mind owning a share in that dr's business, he must make a fortune. A complete monopoly market and they charge a ton of cash as well. No doubt part of the psychological process for getting used to US health care haha...
