Default Labor Certification... August 2001

Hi All.

Just trying to gauge how much longer the living hell of waiting for my green card
labor certification process to complete will be.

It was lodged in August 2001. Still &^%%& waiting a year later. I don't think its
even been pulled from the pile yet. Anyone who was lodged shortly before August 2001
been approved yet?

Your posting was very vague. Which State are you filing from?

Your subject line suggests that you are talking about LC, which is broken into 2
parts. There is a State LC, followed by Certification from the Regional Dept. of
Labor. Your lawyer forwards the State LC to the Regional (Regional is also referred
to as Federal LC). So your lawyer can tell you which stage of LC you are in
currently. After that, you file with a Service Center for for I-140. Each state falls
under a particular INS Service Center. After your I-140 is approved, there is an
option of either choosing either Consular Processing to change your status, or
Adjustment of Status (I-485) to upgrade your status to a GC.

Websites like www.immigration.com, www.shuterman.com, www.murthy.com can provide
you with information on each Labor Dept./service center, and the dates that they
are currrently processing, but updates are provided by these Govt. agencies only on
a monthly or bi-monthly basis, hence it is difficult to figure out the exact
status. Once you file for I-140, status is usually available via phone from the
Service Centers.

GC is a long and painful process, used to take 3-4 years, but has improved a lot
lately. One look at the current processing times for each of the above steps should
give you a fair estimate of how long the whole thing will take.

Hope this helps,

- Rex

Default Multiple postings: Sorry

I apologize to all for this.

I just don't know why my Outlook Express does this, but does this only sometimes.

It shows that it is attempting to upload a post for a long time, and finally aborts
with an error message as if it did not succeed. So I end up attempting multiple
times, only to discover later that the messages was uploaded each time.

Sorry guys,

- Rex

Rex,

Well... I'm in California and so is the law firm handling my application, so I assume
I'm filing from there.

Regards Douglas.
