L1B renewal question
I've read on a couple of forums that many requests to extend L1B status are being denied at the moment, and that it is becoming harder to extend. I've still got just under 2 years left on my L1B so am not worrying quite yet. My question is, are there any government websites that would have figures so support this claim, or is it just anecdotal? I'm thinking about at least mentioning it to my company. My visa runs out in Jan 2011, but I've heard that you need to apply for an extension (or conversion to L1A) at least 6 months before your current visa expires..i.e. July 2010..which is only just over a year away. I'd like to have some kind of evidedence that the L1B is becoming harder to extend before I approach HR about it.

im not sure if any official website would say that - but both Mr Fong and Mr Folinska have stated they as lawyers are seeing more RFE's etc on those kinds of visas recently.

Re: L1B renewal question
my extension was denied for no good reason according to my lawyers. If i were in your situation knowing what i know now. I would apply for a H1 visa in April 2010 which would then start Oct 2010 before your l1 expires and so you would be able to work seamlessly through the change in status. You may have to leave to get your passport updated at your home counties embassy but as i understand it thats all.
obviously i dont know the full details of your case and i am not a lawyer at all so this is just advice. please don't act just on my opinion.
