L1B to GC - Potential hurdles?

L1B to GC - Potential hurdles?
Hi,
I understand from previous posts that the route from L1B to GC is far from easy. My company is prepared to sponsor a GC application and process but to be honest, this isn't something they've done before and so before we get the attorneys involved again, wanted to know the likely pitfalls and time frame etc.
On the face of it, the biggest problem would appear to be GC issuance times vs. expiry of L1B (March 2012).
Appreciate any advice.
Thanks,
Doug.

Check out other posts on here about moving from L1-B -> L1-A -> GC and also search out "Functional Manager"
Far smoother process, no requirements for Labour certification etc, average transition from L1-A to GC is 12-18 months, although recent experiences have been 8 weeks.
L1-B to L1-A took around 6 weeks for me.

Yes, the first thing to do is to talk with your employer and immigration attorney to find out which employment based category your role would come under, e.g. EB1, EB2 or EB3 as the timescales vary hugely depending on this.

is that expiry the initial expiry or have you extended already? An L-1B visa may be extended for a total of five years.

Thanks - no that's the initial expiry date. We've only just got them but didn't want the clock ticking too much without coming up with a plan that would give us the option of permanancy (as far as it can be...)
Cheers,
Doug.
