Default L1A visa - blanket vs individual - GC consideration

Hi all,

I have searched back in a few existing threads but could not find the answer to a question I have.

Primer - I work for a multi-national company which is HQ'd in the the US. I have been working in a managarial position with them in London for over 1 year (with time spent in the US subtracted). I am now looking to move over to the US with them.

I have determined an L1A is the best visa for me as it will allow me to apply for a GC (with the companies blessing, of course) as is dual intent.

My question is - given that I want to move to the US permanently so want a GC, should I ask to go through the blanket peition route or individual ?

Thanks

Almost all visas are dual intent, whether specifically codified or not.

Either is fine. The end game isn't determined by the petition route. If they are eligible to file a blanket petition, the visa process is a bit easier - but, AFAIK, neither will affect a subsequent application to adjust status.

Big multi-national companies which have a blanket L-1a authorization usually have an immigration firm representing them or perhaps do the work via "in-house" counsel [or a combination thereof -- it is common for in-house counsel to farm out to and/or monitor outside counsel]. So, they should be able to tell OP if inquiry is made.

Implicit in OP's question is a belief that the matter is one of "either or." It is not. It is common for people in the situation of OP to use the non-immigrant visa for speed or a degree of certainty of actual entry and reporting for work followed by the immigrant process.
