Default L1 Visa via London Embassy

Hi all,
I have my L1 Visa Apt coming up next monday. I also need to fly to the US on business the following Sunday. Do I need to leave my passport at the Embassy and if so am I likely to have my passport back by the Saturday if the appointment is the Monday before?

Cheers,
Daz

don't know about London. However, I had a similar issue with US embassy Bern. They gave me 2 options: they could *try* to process it quick and I could come collect it on the Friday (if done, not guarantee) OR I could leave them all the paperwork which they'd review and 'approve' then go to US for short business trip, return and send them my passport for visa insertion then.

i did the latter. it worked fine for me.

London is probably a bit of a busier embassy than Bern though

Mmmm...the only problem I'd have with the latter is that I'd be due to move to the US 5 days after getting back to UK so no time to turn around. Collecting might me an option.

cheers,
D

best of luck! I must say, once I actually got to speak with the folks at the embassy face-to-face (as opposed to over the phone in the booking-the-meeting process) they were remarkably human and helpful....

In Oct 07 we had the appointment at 2pm on the wednesday afternoon and had the passports back in our hands by Friday morning - so you may be lucky. There are no guarantees so its really dependant on how lucky you feel!
