L1 renewal wait time?

L1 renewal wait time?
Hi All,
I was hoping that someone may be able to help me.........my L1 visa runs out in September 2007 (yes folks that in 5 months!) thankfully i already have recieved the paperwork that gives me an extension until September 2009 (few that was close!) i want to pop back to Blighty so i can get the official stamp in my passport. My immigration lawyer (whom is an idiot) has told me there may be a wait period before i can get the new visa stuck into my passport, but has no idea of the lenght of wait.
I spoke to the US Embassy back in London and they had no idea either :curse: so my question to all you lovely expats out there is.....
How long did you wait before getting the new visa stuck into your passport?
After the visa in your passport ran out? 30 days? 60 days? 90 days? Or it really doesn't matter!
I would really appreciate any help on this! Thank you loads x

Re: L1 renewal wait time?
Our visas ran out in May 2005 and we renewed them at the US Embassy in London in August 2005. At the time there was about a 40 day wait for an appointment at the Embassy.

If the extension of your L-1 has already been approved and you received a
new I-94 card it really does not matter. You need a valid visa stamp in your
passport only if you want to travel and re-enter the US.

I wouldn't bother getting a new visa until you need one. It's probably
only worth making a special trip to get one if you need to be prepared
to make trips to other countries where it may not be convenient (or
possible) to get a visa, or need to be able to make short trips to the
UK (ones not long enough to get a visa).
I'm not sure what rules they apply on getting a new visa before the
old one runs out - probably simplest not to bother getting a new one
until the old one has run out.
