IS JOB CHANGE Advisable when green card is not applied and have only 20 months left in H1B for 6 yrs
Hi,
My H1B visa is expiring in 20 months from now. My current employer has
not yet applied my green card. Is it advisable to change jobs now when
the new employer says he is ready to apply for green card in 6 months.
Or will it be very risky??
Please advise

Before changing jobs, I will have he H1B ransferred. I think this will
prevent me from getting out of status. But is 20 months a very small
time and not worth taking a risk??

Biue,
If I remember correctly, you need to file a LC for GC from your
employer before the H1-B 5th year is up, then you will be able to do
the 7th year extension, as your future empolyer will sponsor your GC,
you might need to consult a lawyer, as you have two courses of action
to take.
Good Luck,
YY
