J1 Visa Question
Hi my girlfriend is from Ecuador She is in US on a J1 Visa as a Trainee in Marriott. Her internship ends on February 20th but her visa expires on April 15th. After finishing the internship:
1) Can she go to Ecuador and then go back to US for a week let's say by April 5 ?.
2) Also, she is supposed to stay for two years after this internship in Ecuador. I will be living in Canada by then. My question is: Will she be able to visit me taking a plane: Ecuador-Miami-Canada without a US visa?, there is not direct flies from Ecuador to Canada but she will only stay in Miami airport for 3 or 4 hours. Do you think she could have any problem?
Thanks for your help

She would need a tourist visa for that Once she leaves after the
conclusion of her internship, the J-1 is no longer good.

She needs to talk to the airline. There is a Transit Without Visa Program,
but not all airlines can participate, and not on all airports. Also, not
all citizens of all countries can.
If she does not qualify for TWOV, she would need a tourist visa.

Not to make you feel bad about your situation. But she needs to find
out carefuly whatever she needs to do as far as landing in the USA
soil. I am subject to the 2 year HRR and I have a 10 year B-1 visa
since I live in Europe with my husband(US citizen) I guess she could
visit you in Canada, bu as lond as landing in the USA she needs to
inquire.
