J-1 visa and working in the Uk
Hey guys
I'm going to apply for a J-1 visa to do an internship (unpaid, funded from savings) but am considering asking my current employer in the UK to keep me on doing 10 hours a week remotely so I have some income whilst interning and I can't get a 2nd job in the US. Anyone know if I would have to declare this to US customs, if it would be allowed?

Not allowed I'm afraid - doesn't matter where the company is based, or where you are paid, what matters is where you are actually doing the work, and that would be the US. You cannot work for anybody else other than your sponsor while in the US, even remotely.
