I belive www.paycheckcity.com has a calculator.

I've used TurboTax for at least a decade, and except for the first year of our marrige, I've never had to pay. But we don't have complexities of rental income/dividend taxes/retirement taxes, etc. It's pretty straight-forward. Thought about using an accountant but I don't want to lose some of our refund to pay him/her. The amount to file with TT is not really that pricey.

You can buy tax filing software, for very little, and set yourself up as a competitor to H&R Block. I think that's the cause of so many little tax preparation shops.

Holey Moley! I'm just waiting for my husband to download his W-2 and quietly shaking. Although we have never owed a huge amount, we always play around with deductions....hopefully we didn't screw up this year.
