Default issue and cancelation of visa

Hi.

I have a B1/B2.
I am wondering if when the application is approved for a B1 in Lieu of H1B if the B1/B2 visa would be canceled?

Or would they still allow you to keep that for pure B1 and B2 activities but if "working" on US Soil, then to present the B1 in lieu of H1B visa.

Thank you

It's unlikely that the B1/B2 will be cancelled, insofar as you are allowed to have two (or more) valid visas in your passport. You can enter the US in only one status however, so if you plan on pursuing "in lieu of" activities, you must present that visa.

I don't believe it is actually stated anywhere - which is why it's unlikely to happen. This is the manner in which US law is written. If something isn't specifically prohibited, it's allowed.

If it is cancelled they will write across the visa CWOP in red letters. I have 2 current visas in my passport - one is a B1/B2 valid til 2017.

Point of clarification: valid non-immigrant visas. Not the case here, but when an immigrant visa is issued any non-immigrant visas are cancelled.

It isn't, and Ian did not say that the visa will not be cancelled.

What Ian did say, and it's stated in the FAM, is that a person is allowed to have multiple [nonimmigrant] visas.

The embassy in London have a lovely ink stamp which says "CANCELLED WITHOUT PREJUDICE".

Besides, last I checked (1998) Italy had over 92,000 laws in the books!!! And many were contradictory to eachother.

VS

Germany with only about 4200 federal laws!!! (that bit of info was relayed to me so it may not be 100% accurate - it was stated as including only legal framework and not regulations)

:-) Like Kennedy said for the Moon i will say: We choose to go to the US not because it is easy, but because it is hard.

Yes. Well, I am from Serbia but I think the main problem of the legal system in Italy (and Serbia) that it is overcrowded. That is general opinion and lament in Italy. But I was more addressing about immigration and border control comparing EU vs US
