Default IR-1 Visa

I am interested in filing an IR-1 Visa for my wife...here is our situation:

Me, my wife and my 3 year old live in the UK. I am a US citizen with perminent residency in the UK, my wife and daughter both hold British Passports.

I am going to obtain a US passport for my daughter in the next few weeks and want to begin the process to obtain an IR-1 for my wife before we relocate back to the US.

Do you have a step by step 'guide' to doing this? As far as I got was filing an I-130 to the American Embassy in London...What next, how long will this take etc???

Please help!
Thanks
Nick

I moved your post to the correct forum. Also may I suggest you visit the wiki and also do a little searching on this forum for DCF.

Search out "meauxna" and you will see a link in her signature to what you are after.

Research is a good thing

All in all count on 6 to 8 months from start to finish.

Here you go:

DCF - Filing your I-130 abroad - Direct Consular Filing
Instructions for Filing an I-130with the U.S.C.I.S. office in London
Note the special checklists in the right hand menu.

You need to complete the process before your wife can relocate, not begin it. That will take a few months.
