Default Interview This Thursday-What are the chances of a stamp?

We have our AOS (J1 to PR) interview in Arlington this week. My question: Does everyone now NOT get a stamp in their passport, but need to wait for futher checks? Or do some applicants still get their passport stamped following a successful interview?

Thanks

If all of the checks have been completed, you will get the I-551 stamp. If
any of the FBI, CIA or IBIS checks are outstanding, you won't. (A while ago
you were allowed to get the stamp if the CIA check was outstanding - that
was the long pole in the tent - but that policy was dropped and the INS
waits for it). Last year I got my stamp from Arlington at my interview but:

a) IBIS wasn't around then
b) My interview date was delayed because they sent the notice to my old
address and I never got it. So they had plenty of time to complete the FBI
and CIA checks (September 2001 fingerprinting, April 2002 AOS interview).

Andy.

Thank you.

What is a CIA check? Is that an international criminal check? ANd the FBI is the US criminal check?

I wonder if my husband who was fingerprinted in Feb 2003 will have all his background checks done on him before his May 20 2003 AOS interview at Arlington?

Taking bids....

Well stay tuned for my interview report. My wife had her fingerprints on Dec 6th. So our time between interview and prints is about a month more than yours.

Did your J1 come with 2y HRR?
If no, ignore
If yes, how much hassle was to get it?

Thanks

No, her J1 did not have the 2 year rule.

Yup, that's my understanding.
