stupid question here , i am from the uk so we get nhs ,
what kind of insurance do i need ? my fiance`s insurance is for himself only over there , but obviously i need my own insurance , so what do i do ?
can i get long stay travel insurance to cover for 18 months ? doubt i will get it cos i wont be coming back ......
what do i do ? anyone know anything about this ?
i am completely in the dark here , travel agent says i need both and tried to sell me VERY expensive insurance , because its only 1 way ticket ?

It may be worth while getting long term Insurance in the UK for your first 3/6 months.. time enough to sort something out over here... I seem to remember 6 months being the longest..don't mention you may not be coming back when applying...I seem to remember advertiement in the Sunday Times for this, albeit a fair time ago ..

Most employer offered health insurance will cover a spouse (some with a fee) as soon as you are married. Are you sickly? Do you feel that you need to have coverage immediately for a pre-existing condition. If you are planning on marrying asap after arrival and your spouse's health insurance will add you, you might not need to get any supplemental insurance for such a short period of time. Also you can get US health insurance here when you arrive. It will cost but don't know if it is comparable to the high cost of the insurance your travel agent is trying to sell you.

If you are on reg meds now, get prescriptions filled before you leave. And that includes birth control pills, too.
