Default INS Registration Part deux.

Gas Tank Refill : $15
Downtown Chicago Parking: $22
2 Hour Driving, 4 Hour Wait with INS, 45 min Questioning: Priceless

For everything else there is a Green card

---

Joking aside, besides the driving and waiting in the INS room, everything
went smoothly, couple of times, I was asked why I was there because I was
born in France with French Passport, until I showed them my Iranian
Passport. Overall the guy started being a bit arrogant, but once he
started to talk, things went smoothly, I'd say I gave him at most 10 min
worth information, and the rest, he was just typing up. I'd say, there
are not very organized, it was a day which was wasted badly, but what
could I do.

There were many people who showed up with their lawyers (some had
troubles), he basically told me that Lawyers are bad news, and when they
see someone with one of them, they know that there is something wrong.

He told me that he does not really think that this homeland security
group with work in this lifetime, he said, it is just a big smoke, and I
know he sorta felt sorry for me, for wasting a day of work, but overall
they were very polite, and he told me to hang in there, until my 485
approval, he said that it does take long time in Chicago.

I showed him my expired passport and he did not complain, though my
Iranian passport was not expired, he wrote something on my I-94 (H1b)
(which has expired -- by noting the FIN) and asked me to come back in one
year, unless I have received my Green Card.

Also he said that more phases will be added, I assume Phase II has been
announced, and possibly there will be another Phase III (who knows what
will be the list).

He also accepted the fact that this thing is not very well advertised,
and not too many people will show up. But overall things went smoothly
and not so well for some other people over there, he told me that some
people got booted after these procedures, because they did not have legal
papers, etc... so I assume the screening process is what this is all
meant for.

These are the things they asked me, for people who probably will show up
will change.

- Both Passports
- All Visas (F1, Practical Training, H1b's)
- Current Status (you have to bring I485 receipt if you've applied for it)
- Driver's License
- EAD
- One Credit Card
- One Contact Name in US (Could be Relative or Non)
with address/phone
- Name of Parents, Their City/Country of Birth, Data of Birth,
Their Address, Citizenship,
- Phone Number Of Current Employer (Address/Phone Number)

I got finger printed (only index) and got my picture taken (webcam) and
he signed a piece of paper and gave it to me, so I know when to come back
next year + FIN (Finger Print ID)

A hassle, but has to be done...

Good Luck to the rest of people, Thanks to all who helped me.
