INS forms related questions
Hi,
VisaPro (www.visapro.com) has forms that are quite good in terms of
their "fillability".
1) I am concerned about the light background they have added to the
fields. Does anyone know if INS has any problems with that?
Personally, I think the light background makes the user's entries
standout clearly.
2) Forms mailed by INS are printed on both sides of a paper. However,
do we need to print like that when downloading pdf files from
internet? Would it be OK if one-sided printing is done?
Thanks
Ben

No idea, but you might be better to stick with the forms
from the BCIS web site.

I seem to remember that at least some of the forms say they must
be submitted double-sided.

USCIS (INS no longer exists) says that they discourage downloading forms
from any other sites for two reasons. First, there is no guarantee that
the forms are current or even accurate. And second, things such as the
shading could possibly render the forms unacceptable. So if you want to be
safe, download the forms from the BCIS Web site directly (and free of
charge).
And, by the way, most forms from the BCIS Web site are also fillable.

The BCIS Web site has instructions on how to do the printing properly. I
believe you have to do double-sided printing, but are allowed to print
both sides facing up (some forms used to have the front facing up, the
back facing down).
There are also specifications as to what kind of paper and ink to use,
etc.

Like J.J. and Ingo, I'd stick with BCIS-downloaded forms.

One-sided printing has been O.K. since October 2000. See
http://www.immigrationlinks.com/news/news577.htm.
It should be noted that this applies to INS and its successors only. The
Department of Labor still requires that 2-sided forms downloaded from the
internet be printed 2-sided. I have seen people get away with one-sided,
but I would not risk it.
