I've just received notification of an "initial interview" for I-485 (permanent residence / adjustment of status) in Newark, NJ on March 25, 2008.

I'm assuming that "initial interview" means only interview, unless there is a problem? Anyone know?

You're correct, there is only one interview unless there's a problem. I don't know why they refer to it as the initial interview, that's the standard verbage on that letter. Ours said the same thing.
