Just thought i'd post my info so far

Dec 6th 2003 arrive at Philadelphia airport from,England on 90 day visaJ 1 foot of snow everywhere! L
Dec 2004 relax, eat, drink, explore & shovel snow!
Jan 23rd 2004 get married in Bucks County. J
Feb 2004 found attorney in Philadelphia to assist in processing forms (2 meetings).
Feb 28th 2004 medical appointment Philadelphia - $101.00
Mar 2nd 2004 vaccinations appointment Philadelphia - $53.00
Mar 9th 2004 vaccination follow-up to see if I have the Black death or Plague!
Mar 2004 much brain damage from filling in forms – red wine needed to soothe pain.
Mar 30th 2004 attorney sent completed I485,I130,1765 forms to USCIS.
Apr 6th 2004 forms received by USCIS.
Apr 14th 2004 received receipt notices in post from USCIS.J
May 13th 2004 biometrics appointment ASC Philadelphia – asked if they needed brain sample, and if yes to take only small amount as limited availabilty
May 26th 2004 on-line case status states I485 fingerprint review received and case progressing, will notify about decision by mail
Jun 9th 2004 spoke to attorney and made appointment at ASC to get E.A.D. because it must be issued in a mimium of 90 days as required by US law.
Jul 9th Fri 2004 arrive at ASC Philadelphia, asked to participate in fingerpainting and happy snaps,wait for total of 3 hours . EAD issued – happy bunnies J
Jul 12th Mon 2004 applied for Social Security Number, but told as EAD was not on there system yet, will have to wait 4 weeksL (chased office twice)
Jul 14th 2004 apply for Pennsylvania drivers licence – but told I need another medical …grrrr! L
Jul 15th 2004 arrive at doctor for medical, asks a few questions, fills in a form, checks breathing only! and requires $75.00 grrr! L blood pressure increasing rapidly – soothing red wine ingested.
Jul 17th 2004 apply for Pennsylvania drivers licence again – but told I need I94 – which of course USCIS has……so nothing doing …grrrr! L
Jul 20th 2004 apply for international 1 year driving permit from the AA 20 quidL
Jul 27th 2004 driving permit arrives from UK J
Aug 4th 2004 social Security Card arrives in postJ
Aug 5th 2004 started looking for a full time well paid job
Sep 2004 acquire race track driving skills whilst on local roads
Oct 14th 2004 checked on line processing dates – I485 now processing 23rd Dec 2002 & I765 now processing 22nd Sep 2004
Oct 25th 2004 no job yet and realise EAD runs out on 13th Nov L, attorney nor ASC advised that you need to apply 3months before expirey L. Initial EAD was backdated to Apr 14th and only valid for 4 months from Jul 9th – ASC confirmed that if you are applying as K1 visa then they only issue short term EAD usually 3 months.ASC advised that future EAD will be for 1 yearJ
Oct 28th 2004 applied on-line for new EAD (I765), no problem apart from password and could not get to the last screen to print off copy- bud had printed off reciept.
Nov 3rd 2004 received receipt notice in post from USCIS.
Nov 4th 2004 scheduled biometrics appointment with ASC and asked if copy of on-line application would be needed – they said not necessary – just receipt notice.
Nov 10th 2004 checked on line processing dates – I485 now processing 27th Aug 2003…a big improvement! & I765 now processing 8th Oct 2004
Nov 20th 2004 now profficient at driving after job interview return trip turns into circumnavigation of Philadelphia!, good news a job may be imminent, and hopefully new EAD!
Dec 3rd 2004 appointment for new EAD at ASC Philadelphia
Dec 6th 2004 1 year in USA – plans to ingest red wine and good food
Dec 25th 2004 thinking ahead maybe AOS/Green Card appointment will arrive soon on Santa’s Sleigh along with a vat of wine!

Yes you really do need a sense of humour, especially when you feel like jumping over the desk and altering the complexion of the person who has just asked for a form that you cannot get hold of!

My wife has been a great support to me, helping me to learn the language, read the road signs...so now i must go and pay hommage to her !
