I94 Not Stamped: Help!
Hi,
I traveled to the US from India early this year. At the airport, the
immigration officer happened to misinterpret expiration date of my
passport to a date in a very near future this year. I was asked if I
am planning to renew it in the US or if I plan to go back to India and
get it renewed. The expiration date on my passport is not the one he
interpreted. However, it still is going to expire at the end of this
year. I explained this to him.
At the end of the conversation, I was approved the entry. To my utter
surprise later, I am seeing that my I94 does not have an expiration
date at all. I am not sure I understand why it was handed over to me
that way, with a missing expiration date.
Could somebody please advise me as to how to go about getting a valid
expiration date updated on my I94 now? I guess I can contact the
authorities at the airport and get this done. Any pointers would be
highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Dhanu

If you are on F1-Student VISA then usually your I94 has D/S which means duration of stay. But if you are on H1B/L1B/B1/B2 then you should have a date mentioned! On what VISA did you enter US?

You aren't required to live up to your name you know. I would suggest, politely, that you stop and think before you next play the role of tough cop on the forum. It is not appreciated.

Moderators should be consistent and fair. I asked the D/S question, a reasonable response to the O/P's post. You let far worse slide, you may want to stop and think about that. I suggest that politely too.

moderated newsgroup.

This happened to my wife - its easy enough to do if you have kids and multiple documents to juggle. We dont live too far from the airport so we paid a visit and spoke to an immigration officer.
