I-864 and I-864A Help
My new wife and I are currently in the process of AOS for her K1 visa.
I am currently not employed because I am a full time college student and so I opted to have my mother be my joint sponser. My question is, does my mother file both an I-864 and I-864A form or just one of them?
I obviously have to file an I-864 regardless of my lack of income at the moment. In Part 5 letter g on the I-864 it says "OPTIONAL: If you have siblings, parents, or adult children with the same principal residence who are combining their income with yours by submitting Form I-864A, enter the number here." Do I mark a 1 here since my mother is joint sponsoring, and my residence is the same address as hers?
Also in Part 6 #25 it asks for Tax Return information, but I don't know what to put here for myself since I don't have any tax return information for the past 3 years. Should I leave this whole area blank and unchecked?
Lastly, do we need to have all of these forms notarized?

Re: I-864 and I-864A Help
1. If you and your mother live together, then you will complete an I-864, and include you mother's income on it (i.e., your combined income, even though yours is zero).
2. Your mother will complete an I-864A, as a household member contributing income on your I-864.
3. Yes, leave that part blank, but you might want to attach a seperate sheet of paper referencing that question, and write a short explanation of why you were not required to file taxes.
4. No, the I-864 and I-864A do not neet to be notarized.
5. Make sure your mother includes all of her relevent information....proof that she's a USC, letter from employer, a few pay stubs, and her most recent tax return.

I forgot...
6. Make sure your mother's income is enough to cover the whole household. If it's just your mom, yourself, and your wife, it will be *three*. I just happen to look recently, and the minimum income needed for a family of 3 is $22,000. Hopefully your mom earns more than that. If there are others in the household (i.e., your dad, a sibling, etc...it will be higher).
