I-485 Approval from Texas!

I got a big surprise last night from the INS automated phone line -- it says our
I-485 case has been approved on January 31, 2002!!!

Here's some info about our GC application:

Filed I-140 (EB-1)...............................................J une 26, 2000 I-140
Approved.......................................... .........December 6, 2000 Filed
I-485............................................... ............February 7, 2001
Fingerprint Notice............................................ .....March 14, 2001
Fingerprinting Date.............................................. ..May 23, 2002 I-485
Approved.......................................... .........January 31, 2002

For those of you who are still waiting for your I-485 approval, I'm sure you'll get
yours in no time!

Good for you. Do you think it was so fast because of EB-1? Are my master degree plus
20 published research papers (5 in the US) enough for a EB-1?

Hi "Against_Terror",

I would think that it was fast because it was filed under the EB-1 category. However,
the University staff in charge of immigration petitions told me that there are a
number of EB-1 cases that she filed more than a couple of years ago that are still
not adjudicated. So it is hard to tell, but in general, EB-1 cases get adjudicated
relatively faster than other categories.

With regard to your case, you may want to refer to this INS link for the eligibility
requirements of the EB-1 category:
