Default I-20 and OPT dilemma

Hi,

Would you please shed some light on my doubts ?

I start school in US in Fall 2004. I have been admitted to a few
schools, and received a few I-20. I understand that when I finally
decide which school I wish to attand I should send all the others
I-20's back to the schools I turned down is that rite ? Or maybe I
shall send it back to BCIS with an explanation letter ? I am afraid
that administration people in schools I turned down would not care
about my relations with BCIS and just throw away the paper being
unaware or reluctant about the consequences it can have for me.

I understand that economic hardship (f1) is a way that enables me to
get full-time employment off campus. Does the time spent on economic
hardship employment deduct somehow from the one year OPT ? In other
words If I work thru the summer and first semester of the second year
(yes EAD card in connection with economic hardship employment can be
sent by BCIS after the first year, not earlier …) for say 9 months
..will I still have opportunity for full time 12 month OPT after I
graduate ? I think the answer is Yes I am not sure about it though…

Thanks
Marcin
