How to withdraw sponsorship for F1 student?
Hi everybody
I sponsored my sister-in-law 3 years back for an F1 visa. She came
together with my brother and subsequently started school. Recently,
she left my brother without much explanations. I started to get phone
calls from a third-party who revealed my sister-in-law has been with
her boyfriend for almost 1 year. This third person will not stop
calling me although I told her to keep me out of the entire situation.
She went as far as hiring a private detective who researched my sister-
in-law's background, found out things about my family, etc. I do not
want to become financialy liable for my sister-in-law actions, nor do
I want to be (unwilingly) involved in a personal dispute. She
obviously left my brother for good, i just do not understand why she
had to wait and cary on this other relationship until now, when she is
almost done with her studies.
I am not sure what the sponsor's responsbilities are at this point,
but I fear the situation will escalate given her current-boyfriend ex-
girlfriend will not quit calling me, and following them. My sister-in-
law's boyfriend is actually her boss (she is working part-time at a
real-estate firm) - do not know if this information is relevant to
this email.
On top of all this, the visa was initially approved for a 3-year
study, so by her extending the visa under my sponsoship would assume I
will continue to be liable for the payments?
I am not sure how to deal with this situation - I am posting this to
these newsgroups as I had gotten excellent immigration advice in the
past. I wrote the school requesting sponsorhip removal but the school
does not reply to my emails.Again- I just do not want to be
responsible for my sister-in-law actions, nor do I want to continue to

The form I-134 is unenforceable.
If that were an I-864, than that would be another story.
But for a student visa, you likely signed an I-134, and since this one
is not enforceable, you don't have much to worry about.

The form I-134 is unenforceable.
If that were an I-864, than that would be another story.
But for a student visa, you likely signed an I-134, and since this one
is not enforceable, you don't have much to worry about.

Tell this person to back of or you will call the police. If she keeps on
nagging you - do call the police. What she is asking you to do is totally
ridiculous. You cannot deport anybody, this is a job for US authorities and
there must be grounds for deportation. 'Stealing' someone's boyfriend does
not make your sister-in-law deportable. Even if there are other reasons for
deportation it is not your concern.
