How should I travel with my Green Card?
Hello!
First, thank you for your time in reading this post.
I am a Permanent Resident of the United States since March 2005 and am
planning to visit India for 6 weeks. This is the first time I am going out
of the US with my Green Card. Please let me know what are the documents I
should take along with me and walk me through the procedure of going out of
the US as well as coming back to the US after 6 weeks.
Will there be any problem with my re-entry into the US after a 6-week trip?
I am just concerned because this is the first time I am traveling with my
Green Card.
I appreciate your guidance and look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks and regards,
SG

All you need is your actual Green Card. Technically, you wouldn't even
need your passport (at least for returning to the USA), but it is a good
idea to bring it, too.
There is nothing special about leaving the USA. When returning, you get
in line (you can usually use the line for US citizens, even if it
doesn't explicitly list permanent residents) and show your Green Card.
Usually takes just a few seconds.

Unless there are unusual circumstances, I see no reason why. Trips of
less than six months are rarely a problem.
