How quickly can one change the job after I551 stamp ? Please help

Hi all, I will really appreciate an answer to the following question: I got my I-551 stamp
on December 29th of 2000. Unfortunately my company has been baught by another and I may
get laid off in a month. I understand after Green card one has to stay with the same
employer for sometime. What is the time limit for that period? Any help will be highly
appreciated.
