Default How long to get citizenship?

Hi all,

Approximately how long does it take to get citizenship approval after applying for it? My uncle's 5 years are going to be up in 5 months... how long after he applies should he expect to get citizenship interview?

Thanks,

- khabibiuf

Depends on the service center, but expect 6-9 months after applying to get interviewed.

Generally 6-9 months but could be 2 years or more if INS loses the case (a
very likely possibility...)

Vermont Service Center. Change of address to Atlanta District Office.

Here is where the my file got stuck: The Atlanta District Office sent requests for the file for 3 months to the service center. I found out by calling the service center, that the service center was ignoring all the requests. WHY? Because the District Office was not aware of the new official way of asking for the file. No one was aware that my case was being held-up. The District Office just kept sending official requests for the file and the Service Center automatically kept ignoring them. Such is the way of the INS. You, the customer, have to try to find out where your file is and also try to resolve problems with the way the INS is handling the case. By getting through to the Service Center numerous times, you may get a representative who looks at your case in detail and notices something.

The DO does not have a phone number and is completely unresponsive, even if I write letters addressed directly to the INS Officer who interviewed me. You will probably have better luck talking with the service center.

The TSC is pretty darn bad too I hear.

I don't know ...
All i m going to hope for is that my case is as smooth as my moms... she applied in May 02 and her interview was in OCT she got the oath letter at the intefview for 2 weeks later and first week of november she became a citizen.. So i m just going to go by her case... I have to talk to another freind who missed his interview for last week.. see what his time line was......
I am begining to think it has something to do males and females..
What do you guys thinK?
