I had my AOS interview on 4/16 and got my passport stamped. The officer told me that
I would receive my green card in the mail. The thing is, I forgot if she said I would
receive it in 4 to 5 days or 45 days. Do they just need to make the plastic card or
does it have to go to the service center to be made? I got my interview in the
Houston District Office.

I suggest you search the Google version of the marriage based visa newsgroup here:

It varies by office - I'm filing through Milwaukee, WI and I was told it would be 6 to 12 months until I get my card in the mail. So don't be surprised if you have to wait a similar time length.

I have heard reports of anywhere from 17 days ( a new INS record I'm sure) to over a
year. The agent probably told you 45 days. The card will mostly come from the Texas
Service Center. Take Care. Shelley

Thanks to all who have helped me in the past. I just received my green card in the
mail yesterday (5/6), I had my AOS interview on 4/16, so it "only" took 20 days to
receive the card. And yes, it expires in 10 years.
