Default How long between approval and getting the visa?

I have my visa interview on March 14th. We're being 'evicted' from our rented house (owners are selling) on March 22nd, so it's been a scramble to get everything done in time as we were only given 2 months notice. Rather than camp out in a hotel with two young children we'd like to be on our way to the US within a day or two of leaving the house, but that is only a week after the interview. We obviously can't book any flights until I have the visa in my hand, are we going to be out of luck or do they work pretty quickly? I can have it all sent to my parents house.

Crossing my fingers there will be no hold ups with the approval!

I'm presuming you're in London - it can be just a couple days. But if the medical results aren't there, or there is some other hold up - it could be weeks (unlikely, but possible).

So your chances are good to get the visas in a couple days, but I would suggest having a backup plan.

Thanks, I'm just outside of London. My medical was done last month, so there shouldn't be any hold ups from that. I'm hoping everything else should go pretty smoothly, we've been married 10 years so there shouldn't *fingers crossed* be too many problems with my application. I've been a GC holder before, so I'm not sure if that will help or hinder me to be honest. If nothing else I guess hubby can take one or both the kids with him over to the US while I straighten everything out.

I hope it goes smoothly for you. Doesn't sound like there's any reason it shouldn't.

Good luck!

I remember an earlier post of yours indicating you had sorted out the children's dual citizenship status. Do they have US passports? They'll need them to enter the US.

If your approved, courier takes a couple days usually depending on where about you live, unless they've changed it...

There are different courier options you can pay for - I think it's the embassy takes a couple days, courier gets it out in one generally.

But it adds up to a few days in any case.
