How long to add additional pages to US Passport?
Hi,
I am leaving for a trip in roughly 4 weeks and just realized that I
probably do not have enough blank pages in my passport (only 1 left).
I know that it's free to add add'l pages, but I'm wondering if I can
save myself the $60 expedite fee. Does it take the same 6 weeks to
have pages added as it does to have a new passport application
processed? (This is the only time I've seen quoted on the State dept's
website).
How long have other's recent experiences been?
Thanks in advance,
-s

Check the Yellow Pages government section for your local State Department
office phone numbers.

I hope nobody here will ask," What for?" ;)

Re: How long to add additional pages to US Passport?
if you are leaving for a country that has a u.s. consular
section, won't take long and at no cost - bring the passport
with you. i have done that by filing out a form and wait for it.
took no more than 30 minutes.
ask for the usc services section (as a usc you are probably going
to be directed to a different entrance anyway).

Re: How long to add additional pages to US Passport?
Thanks for the info.
I'm not sure how I feel about showing up in a foreign country
(thailand, in my case) and count on them being able to put more pages
into my passport. I'm hoping to travel to Laos, cambodia and vietnam,
so I'll need some room for visas.

Re: How long to add additional pages to US Passport?
fyi: to add pages, the latter 2 could be long shots. your best
bet would be thailand (bangkok). link:
http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/embassy/psptadd.htm
the part of the world you are travelling to do tend to
eat up those pages quickly.

thank you for that link! you saved me almost $100 for the expedite and
overnight mailing fees. I am very grateful.
