Default How to change B-1 to F1 Visa

To whom it may concern,

I have some inquiries about how to change B-1 to F-1 Visa. Please
kindly advise me if you know any useful information.

1.If I obtain B-1 Visa which lasts for 6 months, then I spend my time
in the USA for a month and have found interesting English course. Is it
possible for me to ask for F-1 visa or change type of visa from B-1 to
F-1 .

2.To obtain F-1 Visa, what are the necessary process and documents do I
need to provide for the consul. For example, if I finished my English
class, I would think of studying for Master's degree.

3.If I got F-1 Visa,Can I go back to my home country? or I can not go
back till I finish my Master's degree?

4.Can I work while I am studing?

Thank you very much for your kind answers and I am looking forward to
hearing from you who know about those matters.

Sincerely yours,

A00000

Contact Int'l Sttudent Office where oyu are studying English as well as
the school you want to study master's program. Inform your intention to
want to study Master's porgram. You will have to take TOEFL and I
think, based on your English skills here, you are ready to prepare and
take that.

yes, you can. You just need to have an F-1 visa stamp to neter US . Ask
detail about F-1 stamp at Int'l Student Office.

    >or I can not go back till I finish my Master's degree?

You have to apply for the permit; there is a provision forneed-
basedbut if you show that intention at the time of trying to get F-1,
you will not get F-1 status as you must prove that you have money to
study. Ask financial requirement at int'l Student Office.

I suggest that you find out the school you want to apply Master's
degree program and find out whether the progra you are intersted in
offers teachign or research assistentship, etc. A lot of F-1 students
go to shcool with those though intially, they must provide financial
affidavit as a part of application for admission. Best to go to int'l
Student office at a nearby university and talk in perosn. After 9/11,
the process to change from B-1 to F-1 depends a lot on the schools.
Most school wants students; no doubt about it.
Note: Do not show immigration intent when trying to get a non-immigrant
visa like F-1. I say "do not show" because people chnage their mind
all the time and later, one day, you can decide abiut it. When I first
got to this country, I wasn't sure whether I wanted to stay here
permanently. But my country's political situation never improved (and I
am a minority there) and I have no choice.

Good luck.
