Holiday visa extension

Hi
I'm planning on visiting the States later on in the year for 3 months.
Is it possible to extend that stay? And if so, how do you do it and for how long can
you extend it for?
I have been told that on the last day of your 30 days, you re-apply for the holiday
visa and you can get aother 6 months. Is this true?
Thank you for your answers.

If you arrive on the visa waiver programme, they usually let you in for 90 days and I
don't think that can be extended, although if you pop to Canada or Mexico then return
a little bit later you might get another 90 days out of them. (That isn't
indefinitely repeatable!) If you arrive with a B-2 tourist visa, they normally give
you six months when you arrive; that's extensible.
