Based upon what you have shared so far, you have precisely zero chance of making a move here.
An internet business that does nothing but earn you a wage, however decent, means absolutely nothing to USCIS.
Your electrical qualifications are meaningless here.
Sorry to be so blunt, but there's little value to you or anyone else in dancing around this.
Unless you have some other business, close familial connection or a specialism that is in demand and qualifies for an employment based visa - and you can find an employer willing to sponsor you - or you have around half a million quid spare, you are SOL, I'm afraid.
Think Europe or Oz maybe.

You say we could buy into a company. What if we registered our online business in america, would that work?

@ David, Thanks for the link.

Your business needs to employ locals, needs to be a bit more than a bedroom outfit.

Houses are cheap for a reason, they're shit or in a shit area, or there's other stuff like expensive HOA fee's making them shit, or it might not be the house, but that it is uninsurable etc.

They aren't cheap for the goodness of the foreclosed owners hearts.

Also, holiday, enjoy it, because if you're living and working here, you won't know what a holiday is, and a couple weeks in the sun is lovely, all year long and it's a chore.

I think you folks need to do far more practical research, of which a lot of it is covered in the wiki here on BE as well as the numerous other previous threads.

There are also many other countries to consider if heat is your thing and they could well be attainable.

That's good then. She's probably explained that you'll likely have to put 50% down and pay a really high rate of interest. The whole credit system is completely different to the UK and your UK credit record counts for nothing in the US. As an example I've bought my home for cash but couldn't get a credit card with any kind of decent limit. I had to deposit $10,000 with the bank to get a credit card with a $10,000 limit. Houses are generally bigger and look cheaper but remember the running costs are a lot higher than the UK. Air conditioning is on all year and you need to do a lot more maintenance. I'm not sure what property tax is like in Florida but in some parts it can be very expensive plus you may have to pay HOA fees etc.

Yes, so you said.

As for the british benefit hand out's. I would rather sell my sole then cliam from the government...
You've never used NHS? They don't have anything like it in the US - and a single hospitalization in the US could easily bankrupt you. Healthcare insurance in the US could easily chomp away at 1/2 your income (well, depending on what you define as "a good wage").

Look - no one here wants you to do something stupid... so all the responses you've been getting have been with an eye to looking out for you - believe it or not.

By the way, are you and your partner married? Unless you are, one of you might get a visa, but the other will be SOL.

This reminds me of a conversation I had not long after we arrived in Florida in 2003. Having had a solid plan for 3 years we finally got our visa to move to Florida.

A friend of my brother's from the UK called me and asked how everything was going what was the weather like, had we been to Disney etc etc
She then called back 2 weeks later and asked if I could find out if 'they' needed gas fitters as her & her husband wanted to move to Florida they had the house on the market, got a quote for shipping the household goods, price of flights for them and the pets.
I was stunned and told her she was off her trolley making all those decisions from one conversation with me. Needless to say never heard from her again and according to my Brother they are still living in the UK
