Help with transfer visa issue....
I hope someone can help me with this… “Someone I know” has been offered a job in NY. The company has said that they will bring him over on a “transfer visa”, by employing him in the London office and then transferring. Now, he has not been employed by them before now, so I assume that it can’t be on an L1 visa.. Is this legal? I assume not, but is this common practice? Or would they bring him over on an other visa? They have also said that “they do this all the time” and the “visa” will only take a few weeks or so… My opinion is that it is all a bit dodgy, but the Company is reputable, and the salary is good…. Any ideas??

Sounds illegal. They need to have been working for the company for at
least a year before they qualify for an L transfer visa, and they're
only available for manegerial or specialist jobs.
