H4 to J1
Hi :
We got married 3 months back and my wife came back with me to california.She is an indian citizen by birth and has submitted her phd thesis ,though she is yet to defend it. She has got an offer from Stanford for the post of a visiting scholar on a J1 visa.
My questions are
1. Can she convert her visa status staying in usa ? or can she go to canada to do it ? Or is it nessesary to go back to the country of birth to get the status changed ?
2. Does anyone have any previous experience in changing visa status from H4 to J1 ? If so, could u pls share it with me ?
