H1B time period

H1B time period
I am a PhD candidate. My current status is ABD. I have applied for teaching position in a few colleges. I am getting very good response from some of them. In late June or early July, it will be known if I am going to be selected. Currently, I am in F1 position. If I am selected, I will have to start work from Mid August. I don't want to apply for OPT right now because it will be waste of my OPT opportunity if I am not selected. I will apply for it once I am selected. But the problem is that if I apply for OPT, it will take 3 months to get it. That means, if I am selected in July, I won't be able to start the work from mid August. How long will it take to get H1B visa if the college sponsors me for it? Would I be able to start work from Mid August if I am selected in early or mid July?
I would greatly appreciate expert opinion. Thank you very much in advance.

I guess not everybody knows the insider notion ABD. It means "All But
Dissertation"...

With premium processing, it should take 2 weeks to get an H1. And, H1s for
universities are excempt from the H1 cap, so it should work out just fine.
