Default H1- stamping & re-entry Q's - Travel Abroad

Hi all..

I am currently working in the US, on an OPT (practical training - after school) and am waiting for my H1, which my company has already applied for. I believe i should have it by october-november.

My questions are, once i get this H1 visa, can i travel abroad? I am planning to visit Australia in november for a short trip, Will i face any problems re-entrying US. Are there any formalities i need to take care of...someone raised some issue regarding stamping etc.. India is my home country and I am not planning on going to India until next year. Will that make it difficult for me to go abroad?

I am really confused regarding this stamping issue..
Please advice..
Thanks
Sid..

You won't get a visa. You'll get an H-1B petition approval, and
a change of status to H-1B.

Yes.

You will have to get an H-1B visa before you can re-enter the USA. In
theory you can do this at many of the USA Consulates around the world,
but those in countries other than your country of citizenship may
choose not to give you one.

None other than getting a visa, though it's probably a good idea to
carry a letter from your employer confirming your curent employment.

No, but it might make it difficult to get back into the USA.
