H1 and GC
Hi all,
I am looking (again) at ways to move myself (UK national) and wife and child (US Cit)
to the USA.
Green card could take a while to arrange, so I am thinking towards a H1 sponsorship.
Can anyone recommend an agency that deals with this kind of thing. This would be a
one way trip, and I would like to adjust my status once in the US.
It all seems very confusing with the options available etc., we would like to move
this year if possible.
TIA

It sure is confusing. Plan well by considering the time it takes for each process.
H-1B and L-1 are possibilities for you based on who is sponsoring you and where the
company is located. This process may take anywhere from 3 weeks to 3 months.

Sources for jobs with assistance for sponsorship: www.pacepros.com www.freeagent.com

Is your wife a US citizen? If so, she presumably has legal residency
(ILR) in the UK. If this is the case forget the H-1B (in this economy you would be
lucky to get it).
You are eligible to file the I-130 directly with the US Embassy in London as long as
your US citizen spouse resides in the UK. The process should take 3-4 months and you
will enter the US as a permanent resident eligible to work as soon as you obtain a
social security number which you can get at the nearest Social Security office.
Do a google search for DCF London or similar. Post to alt.visa.us.marriage-based.
Several couples who post there are doing or have done this.

Many thanks for that - This seems to be the good news I was hoping for!

Re: H1 and GC
Usually you need to apply for a job and get an acceptance letter first. You can then
ask them to apply for H1 visa, in fact, that is something you can bring up during
your interview process.
